The cannabis industry is for the benefit of humanity! Our industry has fought long and hard to have some legitimacy. And the battle for full legalization continues. As cannabis supporters, we never want to cause harm.
Our industry has endured prohibition. Not that long ago cannabis lovers were persecuted. Because of our spotted past, we have a responsibility. We must protect the rights of all living beings including the Earth.
Profits for the sake of profits without regard to life, human, non-human, or plant cannot be the path. Massive corporations acting without respect for life must not be a cannabis story. We must support companies acting in line with the best interests of living creatures.
There’s a recent story of an electric company and its customers. A winter storm took out much of the residential and commercial power grid. The storm was so severe many people were without power for several days. Those who had power probably wished they didn’t when they saw the bill.
When the crisis hit the Texas Public Utilities Commission ordered the price cap raise to its maximum limit of $9 per kilowatt-hour. This amounted to more than $100 a day, a huge amount to pay for electricity.
For those who’d bargained to pay wholesale prices before the storm, the fees were 50 times more than the normal cost. One woman tracking her bill has been charged $6200 before the end of the billing cycle.
Some bills were extremely high. One household’s bill was $10,300 well before the billing cycle ended.
To make matters worse, the electric company used saved payment information to collect funds. People watched as the electric company collected large sums from their bank account and credit cards.
There are more than 29,000 households that paid the electric company’s inflationary prices during the storm. A clear example of company interests coming ahead of the needs of the people. A lawsuit has begun against the company.
We cannot let stories like this happen in the cannabis industry.
We, cannabis enthusiasts, are in solidarity. We want a better world. And because we do the companies selling our products do too.
If massive corporations cannot keep our interests front and center we won’t support them. We always have better options.
So long as the cannabis consumer stays aware we can seek a better world.
We must stay not let companies put their interests ahead of the life on this planet. We’ve fought too long and hard to give up anything. And we’re so right that cannabis is good we will make it good for the planet. It is our legitimate responsibility to build a better world through cannabis.
